WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY OF OKLAHOMA WHEN TO ARRIVE We ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time if you are a new patient to fill out paperwork and 15 minutes prior to your appointment time if you are an established patient to update your paperwork. For your convenience, these forms are available through our Patient Portal here. If you would like you may complete the paperwork prior to you arrival and then arrive ten minutes prior to your appointment time. LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT If your visit is for an electrocardiogram or holter monitor placement, these visits are often thirty minutes or less. If your visit is for an echocardiogram only, this test may take up to one hour. To help make this more comfortable for your child, we recommend your bring a favorite toy, blanket or DVD. If your child is an infant, it is often very helpful to bring them to the visit hungry and give them a bottle or snack while the ultrasound is being performed. If your visit is for a full evaluation, we ask that you bring a copy of a recent chest X-ray. This is usually ordered by your primary care physician. An ultrasound and electrocardiogram are done prior to being seen by the provider. These studies are reviewed and then the provider will come in to evaluate your child and discuss our findings with you. These appointments may take 1 ½ to 2 hours. We understand that this is very long so you may consider bringing a favorite blanket or toy. TRANSFERING FROM ANOTHER CARDIOLOGIST If your child has been previously evaluated by a cardiologist, we ask that you obtain a copy of his or her records and send them to our office prior to your appointment. This will help our providers have the knowledge they need to make your transition to a new practice a smooth one, and will make your initial visit with us much faster.
